100 days until the Fair!

The concerts are booked. The Web site is live. The grounds entertainment acts are practicing their racing, magic tricks and drawing skills. The application deadline for food vendors and exhibitors is closed. That can mean only one thing: The countdown is officially on, as today marks 100 days until the N.C. State Fair opens.

State Fair Press Conference: Concert lineup announced

Brian Long, director of the State Fair Press Office, held a press conference today in the Bearded Lady’s office (aka the intern’s office) to announce the 2009 State Fair concert lineup. Fair favorites return after brief hiatus

In addition to the returning acts (BMX bikes, racing pigs, poodles, clowns, etc), a few familiar faces will be returning to the State Fair this year after one- or two-year absences. Al the Artist may not have a large presence–a small cartoon car is his only prop–but his absence from last year’s Fair was felt by many who have come to count a drawing by Al as a “must” on their Fair to-do list. Excited!

Okay, I’ve admitted it before, but I’ll say it again…I’m a real geek. (And I’m okay with that.)
