Deep Fried Ambassador update: Cold, rainy, happy

Our Deep Fried Ambassador is busy blogging about all things N.C. State Fair related. We’ll re-post all of her Fair entries, but be sure to check out her Pretty*Swell blog. Going to the fair today could have been a really bad idea. It was cold and drizzly. Small Fry was grouchy from cutting her latest tooth. And I wasn’t feeling very motivated this morning. But the fair makes everything better. We arrived at around 9:30 a.m., along with every other person in North Carolina who owns a stroller. Clearly we’d all received the same top secret, for-parents-of-young-children memo. Go to…

Deep Fried Ambassador update: How ’bout them apples?

Our Deep Fried Ambassador is busy blogging about all things N.C. State Fair related. We’ll re-post all of her Fair entries, but be sure to check out her Pretty*Swell blog. New look for ticket voucher exchange tents

Many people have taken advantage of online advance ticket and ride sheet sales this year. Now fairgoers just…

I hear a train a comin’

Fairgoers and train enthusiasts won’t want to miss the working model train display that will be a new addition to the Flower and Garden Show at this year’s State Fair. The display is the creation of the N.C. Garden Railroad Society, which has turned a roughly 10-foot-by-40-foot plot of land into a miniature village setting complete with a church, a train depot, a barn, a trestle bridge and other buildings.  The plan is to run two trains during the Fair around the roughly 75 feet of train tracks. A variety of plants are incorporated into the scene to give the appearance of trees and a natural landscape….
