Picking pics for prize packs

Each year, the Deep Fried crew takes thousands of photographs during the Fair. While our collection is large, some of the best photographs come from fairgoers just like you. You do a great job of capturing the excitement of the Midway, the serenity of the Flower Show, the tasty satisfaction of deep-fried food and the joy on fairgoers’ faces. Show us what you think is great by uploading your State Fair pics from previous years to the N.C. State Fair fan page. Throughout the summer, we’ll select some of our favorites to share on the Deep Fried blog, and if we pick your pics, we’ll send you a…

Nov. 12 Triangle Social Media Club meeting to feature N.C. State Fair

Throughout the year, we strive to bring our followers on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr and YouTube and readers here on the Deep Fried Blog the type of behind-the-scenes content that they can’t find anywhere else. Hopefully, you were able to improve your 2009 Fair experience through some or all of these channels. (If not, let us know! We would love to hear your feedback.) On our end, we enjoyed tracking down the most interesting stories and people at the Fair for the blog and connecting with fairgoers on our social networking sites. Since the Fair, we’ve been compiling information to…

Deep Fried Ambassador update: A whole lotta happy. And bacon.

It was such a pleasure to meet our Deep Fried Ambassador in person today. She was a pro at tweeting out the information we announced this afternoon at the pre-Fair media lunch. Luckily for us, she’ll be returning to the Fair a few times between now and Sunday, Oct. 25 on “official duty.” We’re excited she’ll be a part of our blogging staff. Below is her first post. Be sure to visit her blog Pretty*Swell to keep up with her Fair adventures, and we’ll also repost all of her updates here. The theme for this year’s North Carolina State Fair…

Social Media Breakfast Raleigh

We had a blast bringing the N.C. State Fair to you in lots of new ways last year, through Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and here on the blog. Social media allowed us to interact with fair visitors in a whole new way, and we’re already working on more ways to do that in 2009. Right now, we’re working on pulling together lots of facts, figures and stories about our social media campaign for March 24’s Social Media Breakfast in Raleigh. The Social Media Breakfast is a monthly meeting of Triangle (and beyond!) students and professionals who meet to discuss new…

Fair Pic: Shadows and Swings

This pic was tagged by our MySpace friend Jazzy. Gorgeous! We have some awesome friends on Facebook and MySpace–1,534 awesome friends, to be exact. One of the coolest parts of the social neworking sites is interacting with people in ways we never have before. For example, one feature allows your to take your own pictures and “tag” people in them. (Facebook/MySpace junkies are reading this thinking “Oh, really? And the sky is also blue!”) We love this because now we have 136 pictures on our profiles of fairgoers capturing their memories of the Fair. So, with only 21 days (gasp)…

On our Facebook, MySpace and Twitter pages, we’ve met some awesome people who really, really love their N.C. State Fair. So to highlight them, we’ll be interviewing our Fair Fans every week here on the Deep Fried blog. Twitter!

You asked for it, and the N.C. State Fair is now on Twitter. You can follow all of our “tweets” at twitter.com/ncstatefair. For the unitiated, Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates (tweets) which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length. (Thanks for the summary, Wikipedia!) It’s kind of like a blend of Facebook, text messaging and instant messaging. We’re really excited to use this during the Fair from all over the grounds. Can’t you see the tweets now? “NCStateFair is milking a cow in the Jim Graham Building”…”NCStateFair…
