This weekend, the fairgrounds will host the 2012 Got to Be NC Festival. The annual event is a celebration of North Carolina’s food and agricultural heritage, and there is plenty new in store this year. Consider the following five tips when making your plans: 1. What’s in a name?

Most people know about the animals that live at the fairgrounds temporarily during the N.C. State Fair, but there are also a handful of animals that make the fairgrounds their home the rest of the year. One such addition has found a new home in the Flower and Garden Show. Workers first noticed the female duck in the area a couple of weeks ago. The hen soon made a nest out of a nearby hanging basket and has been living there ever since. It’s hard to believe we’ve almost wrapped up the first three months of 2012. That means the State Fair will be here before you know it. Sadly, it’s not this weekend. But, there are plenty of activities going on at the fairgrounds we think you will enjoy. The Wake County Library Book Sale started Thursday in the Graham Building with more than 450,000 items for sale. Wake up with the Deep Fried Crew: Festival edition

Flying Bob and Firecracker give a rundown of the remaining activities at the Got to Be NC Festival this weekend at the N.C. State Fairgrounds.
