You can catch a horse show in the morning, antiques in the afternoon and a circus at night this weekend at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. Not to be forgotten is the free Children’s Good News Spectacular on Saturday. Discover the Dinosaurs in the Expo Center

Visitors to the State Fairgrounds can travel back to prehistoric times via the Discover the Dinosaurs exhibit on Friday from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Graham Building. A weekend full of fun awaits visitors to the State Fairgrounds this Friday through Sunday. Check out the following events: The final two days of the Southern States Regional Morgan Horse Show are Friday and Saturday, with free admission for the public. The event features over 200 Morgan horses coming from across the nation to compete. This show also offers carriage classes and vendors selling horse-themed gifts. Weekend Update: Sept. 25-27

It’s the first weekend of fall at the state fairgrounds, which means the N.C. State Fair is right around the corner. It also means that this the last weekend to enjoy the Raleigh Flea Market before in closes in preparation for the annual State Fair. Each weekend, the Commercial and Education buildings and grounds host hundred of dealers selling antiques, furniture, bargains, collectibles and more. Horse Show Activities

City dwellers unacquainted with North Carolina’s 300,000 horses, ponies, mules, donkeys and burros will get a chance to witness the growing industry at the 2015 N.C. State Fair Oct. 15-25. Last year the State Fair and the N.C. Horse Council partnered to celebrate the “Year of the Horse,” offering numerous equine events to complement the traditional horse shows. Quarter horses are taking over the Hunt Horse Complex for the 2015 Tarheel Triple Classic. Come see riders from across North Carolina compete in Western pleasure, trail and other categories.
