Weekend Update: June 17-19

This weekend at the fairgrounds kicks off with Maker Faire: North Carolina in the Scott Building on Saturday.  The event is designed to showcase all things home-made and entrepreneurial and to celebrate the American creative spirit.  The events will feature exhibits of handcrafted goods in a variety of categories from engineering and hacking to food and health and beyond.  Maker Faire will also include activities for kids and live music throughout the day. Weekend Update: June 10-12

The 2011 Tarheel Triple Classic began yesterday and will continue through June 18 at the Hunt Horse Complex. The classic features 10 full days of horse shows and combines the N.C. Quarter Horse Association’s Show, Jamboree and Little Futurity into one event.  The event is one of largest of its kind on the East Coast, and $200,000 in prizes will be given away at the main show on Monday night. Weekend Update: June 3-5

Although the 2011 N.C. State Fair is still months away, there’s still plenty to do for everyone at the Fairgrounds this weekend.  The Capital Dressage Classic runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Sunday.  The horse competition also includes a vendor fair.  On Saturday the Classic will also host a special performance by the 82nd Airborne Division’s All-American Chorus and a Medieval jousting and tournament games exhibition. Also running Friday through Sunday, the North Carolina Junior Beef Round-Up will include steer and breed shows, showmanship competitions and other family activities. …

Weekend Update: May 25-28

Get an early start to your Memorial Day weekend  at the Fairgrounds with the opening of the Southern States Regional Morgan Horse Show today at the James B. Hunt Horse Complex.  The event runs through Saturday and shows will feature a variety of horses including the dressage, English pleasure, Western, Hunt and Classic styles. Last year’s event featured more than 150 different competitions and the offerings this year promise to be just as wide and diverse.  Admission is free, so be sure to stop by. Got to Be NC Festival and much more

We’re getting ready for a jam-packed weekend full of family fun, and wanted to fill you in on all the activities available at the State Fairgrounds beginning Thursday. The Got to Be NC Festival will take over most of the Fairgrounds with carnival rides and antique tractors on display in the Midway area, vendors and a community stage in the Jim Graham Building and the Food & Wine Expo in the Expo Center. We’re just 5 months away

It’s hard to believe that it’s been seven months since the start of the 2010 N.C. State Fair. Weekend update: May 6-8

If you’ve never been to a horse show at the Hunt Horse Complex, you will have two opportunities this weekend to enjoy the busiest equine facility in North Carolina and Virginia. The Tar Heel Plantation Classic will feature plantation pleasure walking horses competing in meets Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. If you want to see a variety of breeds, come to the Carolina Mane Event Saturday or Sunday. There are plenty of activities at the N.C. State Fairgrounds this weekend, so come out and enjoy what is shaping up to be a beautiful weekend. The Raleigh Flea Market will be open Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and there are special events going on in most of the buildings. Weekend update: April 15-17

The N.C. State Fairgrounds is blooming with activities this weekend. Garden enthusiasts will want to check out two events happening in the Flower and Garden Show area this weekend. The Gardeners of Wake County will host its annual Azalea Sale to raise money for horticultural scholarships and other projects at N.C. State University. The 4-H also will be on hand selling a variety of annuals and perennials.
