Weekend update: March 17-19

India Fest, with more than 1,200 performers, returns to the fairgrounds this Saturday and Sunday in an expanded location. Enjoy the largest Indian cultural celebration of it’s kind in the nation. Discover Indian cultural arts through dance, music, cuisine and traditional crafts in a bazaar-style atmosphere in the Exposition Center. Event hours are Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, 11  a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Raffles and door prizes will be held throughout the event.  Admission is $6 daily. Weekend Update: March 10-12

Need a little variety? Head on out to the fairgrounds this weekend. We’ve got something for everyone. The Carolina Collector Auto Fest takes over Dorton Arena, the Graham Building and the grounds between the buildings this weekend. This event is celebrating its 31st year and will include a swap meet with more than 100 vendors, indoor and outdoor car corral for buying and selling. Friday and Saturday will have car and truck shows for 1900-1989 vehicle years. On Sunday, the inaugural XTREME Car & Truck Showdown will be held in the Graham Building. Weekend Update: Jan. 27-29

The Triangle’s largest Chinese New Year Festival is this Saturday in Dorton Arena. Celebrate the Year of the Rooster with Chinese and Asian cultural performances on stage, exhibits, food and merchandise vendors offering arts and crafts for the entire family to enjoy. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is  $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Children age 6 and under admitted free. Check out the following events this weekend at the fairgrounds. The Raleigh Flea Market is Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Commercial and Education buildings and surrounding grounds. Come explore the hundreds of booths filled with antiques, clothes and handcrafted goods this weekend. 31st Annual Piedmont Racing Expo & Auction and Motorsports Trade Show, Auction and Racers Reunion is Friday and Saturday in the Exposition Center. The Carolina Collector Auto Fest is returning for its 29th year this weekend. Cars will be on display in Dorton Arena, Graham Building and outside grounds. This swap meet includes more than 125 vendors, car corral for buying and selling, and car and truck shows. Saturday’s show features vehicles made from 1900 to 1979 vehicles and Sunday’s features an  open car show with all makes, models, domestic and imports. Enjoy a weekend of family-friendly activities at the fairgrounds, complete with a horse show, free inflatables and a Body Mind Spirit Expo; it will be something you won’t want to miss. Nearly a million people had a “Bumper Crop of Fun” enjoying the exhibits, entertainment and food at the 2012 N.C. State Fair. Thanks to everyone who came out this year.
