The Raleigh Flea Market is Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Commercial and Education buildings and surrounding grounds. Come explore the hundreds of booths filled with antiques, clothes and handcrafted goods this weekend.
31st Annual Piedmont Racing Expo & Auction and Motorsports Trade Show, Auction and Racers Reunion is Friday and Saturday in the Exposition Center. This is the area’s largest consignment auction of racing related parts, tools and equipment. Show opens Friday 10 a.m. and auction starts at noon. Doors open Saturday at 8 a.m. and auction starts at 9. The Raleigh Fairgrounds Racers’ Reunion and autograph session is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $10 each day. Ages 12 to 15 are admitted for $5, women and children ages 12 and under are admitted free.
Sew 4 Home Workshop, hosted by Wish Upon a Quilt, is Friday through Sunday in the Martin Building. Attendees will make three projects, as well as take home a complete pillow kit to make later. All materials, tools, machines being used as well as instruction are included in the $199 registration fee. Snacks and beverages will be provided for all three days, as well as lunch on the second day of the event. All your need to bring with you is your enthusiasm and excitement. Workshop schedule: Mix, make and mingle on Friday, 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration is required.
NCHJA “C” Indoor Hunter/Jumper Show is Friday through Sunday at the Hunt Horse Complex. Daily show begins at 8 a.m. Spectator admission is free.
Dixie Gun & Knife Classic is Saturday and Sunday in the Graham Building. Buy, sell or trade. Modern and collectible firearms, custom-made knives, hunting and fishing equipment, ammo, gun accessories, reloading supplies and more. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $9 for adults and children under 12 are free with paying adult. DogGoneFast Flyball Club Flyball Tournament is Saturday and Sunday in the Holshouser Building. Flyball is a fast-paced family-oriented dog sport that has become a hit on Animal Planet and ESPN’s Great Outdoor Games. Each dog jumps 4 hurdles and steps on a spring loaded box, which shoots out a tennis ball. The dog catches the ball and runs back over the 4 hurdles. When the dog crosses the starting line the next dog goes. The first team to have all 4 dogs run without errors wins the heat. Competition is Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Spectators and leashed dogs are welcome to come and watch. Free admission.
Winter VolksFest is Saturday in the Scott Building. This is an all-Volkswagen car show and swap meet. New and used parts vendors and various VW new and old models on display. VW enthusiasts come buy and sell vintage VW parts, sell or show off your vehicle. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $10 and children 12 and under admitted free.
Champion Cheerleading Competition is Saturday in Dorton Arena. This is a North Carolina All-School Cheer & Dance Championship and “Champions of the East” All-Star Cheer & Dance Championship. Doors open at 10 a.m. and competition will begin at 11 a.m. Competition features cheerleaders and dancers of all ages competing to win their age divisions and grand champion. Admission is $14, ages 6 to 12 and 65-plus are admitted for $8.
TET Festival (Vietnamese New Year Celebration) is Sunday in the Scott Building. The Vietnamese American Association of Raleigh presents its annual cultural celebration featuring cultural foods, vendors martial arts demonstrations and traditional musical performances. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $8, $5 for children ages 7-12 and free admission for ages 6 and under.
