Spring has sprung, which means it must be time for the Kennel Club Dog Show. The Championship Purebred AKC event started yesterday and will continue through Sunday. Area kennel clubs will host daily dog shows, obedience and rally trials. Shows will run in the Graham Building from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m each day. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 7-12. Senior citizens and children under 7 are admitted free.
If you lean more toward the equestrian then the canine, stop by the Hunt Horse Complex for the Raleigh Spring Premier, organized by Ray Cloninger Horse Show Services. The show features contests for American Saddlebred horses, Roadsters, Hackney ponies, Southeast riders and more. Contests run today and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday, contests will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Parents of young children should check out the Children’s Spring Clothing and Baby Equipment Sale in the Scott Building. The sale, sponsored by Triangle Mothers of Twins & Triplets (TMOTT), will feature everything from maternity clothing and toys to strollers and car seats. Friday is preview night for TMOTT members and guests, but Saturday is open to the public. Dorton Arena will be full of dancing, music, crafts and food for the 9th annual India Fest this weekend. Discover Indian culture in a Bazaar-style atmosphere. Meiyang Chang, from “Indian Idol” and “India’s Got Talent,” will headline this year’s event with a performance Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The event is open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more details and ticket information, check out Nuv Yug Cultural Organization’s website.
