A weekend full of fun awaits visitors to the State Fairgrounds this Friday through Sunday. Check out the following events:
The final two days of the Southern States Regional Morgan Horse Show are Friday and Saturday, with free admission for the public. The event features over 200 Morgan horses coming from across the nation to compete. This show also offers carriage classes and vendors selling horse-themed gifts. Hours in the Main Arena are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m. Hours in the outside open rings are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday for dressage, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday for carriage driving.
The Africa Week Celebration Dinner will be Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight. Put on by the African Diaspora Coalition North Carolina, the dinner will feature traditional African food as well as lots of music and vendors offering items from all regions of Africa. Tickets are $25 for ADCNC members, and non-members can visit www.africandiasporacoalition.org to reserve their spot.
The Raleigh Flea Market takes place Saturday and Sunday in the Commercial and Education buildings and outside grounds. Come for the wide selection of unique houseware, clothing, antiques and more. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Raleigh Durham Caged Bird Society’s Pet Bird Fair is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free admission. The fair features exotic birds from around the globe, a huge selection of items for the care of your pet bird, and a raffle benefiting avian research and conservation. Located in the Scott Building.
