Crafts at the State Farmers Market

By on March 12, 2009

rfmlogo31The State Farmers Market in Raleigh is known for its wide variety of offerings, but this weekend, visitors will be treated to more than just the baked goods, produce, chopped wood, cut flowers and nursery stock that are usually found at the market on a typical March weekend.

The market is hosting the Spring Crafts Fair starting Friday that promises  more than 70 vendors selling handmade craft items like jewelry, pottery, baskets, crocheted baby blankets, hats, purses and more. This event will take place rain or shine, according to marketing specialist Monica Wood, who organizes the event.

A recent trip to the market found a wide variety of winter produce and even a few surprises, such as fresh greenhouse tomatoes and strawberries. This weekend also marks the re-opening of the State Farmers Market Restaurant, which has been closed for almost two months for renovations.

The Spring Craft Fair will run Friday, March 13, through Sunday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
