Today’s Topic: N.C. agricultural statistics

By on December 15, 2009

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with the Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

southernfarmnetwork1 Every year, the NCDA&CS Statistics Division, working with USDA, releases a yearbook of statistics about N.C. agriculture. The new book is out and contains some interesting numbers. For example, in 2008, North Carolina farmers had more than $9.7 billion in income from the sale of crops, livestock and related products. That’s up $1 billion from 2007. Sixty-six percent of those cash receipts came from the livestock sector, and 34 percent were from the crop sector.

Listen in as Commissioner Troxler and Rhonda discuss these and other N.C. ag statistics.
