In the Kitchen with Brian and Lisa: Spicy Barbecue Pork

By on October 25, 2012

WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.

North Carolina is the second-largest hog producer in the country, and because of that, there’s an abundance of great pork recipes in the state. This one for Spicy Barbecue Pork comes from Kay Powell in Fuquay-Varina. Kay’s recipe calls for a three-pound pork tenderloin roast, but what really sets the dish apart is her spicy sauce. The sauce is made with vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, honey-barbecue sauce, mustard, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce and crushed red peppers.

You should be able to find N.C. pork in most grocery stores, but can also buy pork products directly from farmers. Visit www.ncfarmfresh.com to search for farmers selling pork and other locally grown products in your area.
