During March, Brian and Lisa will be cracking open some egg recipes starting with this one for Apple Meringue Torte. The recipe, submitted by Jan Kelly at the N.C. Egg Association, is a mix between a cake and a pie. It has the dense texture of cake, the crunch of pie and an enjoyable combination of N.C. eggs, tart apples and pecans.
Lisa suggests serving the torte as either a breakfast bread or dessert. If you decide to serve it as a dessert, she recommends adding a drizzle of chocolate and scoop of ice cream to each serving.
